Entries are flowing in for what must be the most spectacular off-road half marathon in the country the Kingsgate Hotel Rotorua Half Marathon which is being held on the 07 March 2010 in the magnificent Whakarewarewa Forest.
The Kingsgate Hotel Rotorua Half Marathon is open to both runners and walkers aged 13years and over with medals and merit prizes awarded to the top 3 male & female competitors in each age group.
The event venue is based at the Waipa Sawmill recreation reserve adjacent to the mountain bike carpark and in addition to the Half Marathon there are two additional events to choose from.
The New Balance 10k Fun Run/Walk – is a non competitive event suitable for runners and walkers of all abilities and for the kids, there is a 1.5km fun run/walk for Little Devils 4-7years or a 3km fun run/walk for those aged 8 – 12 years.
The courses for all events are truly unique and offer all participants the chance enjoy some beautiful scenic forest trails and smooth gravel forest roads. They have been designed to cater for runners and walkers of all abilities and are relatively flat with gradual rises and no major hills.
Event Director Murray Fleming adds “ I doubt there would be another off road half Marathon in the country that would be set in such beautiful surroundings, this really is a great opportunity for runners and walkers to experience a truly unique course.
