From the Lake to 1 Lighthouse, a 2 day event and only 3 days left to save on your entry!

Which ever way you do the numbers – things are shaping up for a great Genesis Energy Lake to Lighthouse event! But time is running out to save money on your entry - whether you are thinking of entering as a team or an individual, make sure you enter by this Wednesday 30th September and save!

Record numbers have already signed up for this two-day multisport event, including multisport champions; Richard and Elina Ussher who will be back on the start line to defend their titles.

The $39,000 in prize money will be hotly contested and has attracted a few big names in the sport; the likes of George Christison, Marcel Hagener and Cam Durno are expected to battle it up front with Ussher in the men’s individual contest.

Top multisport athlete and Coast to Coast champion, Gordon Walker will also have an eye on the prize money – taking part in a two man team he will certainly be looking to win this division and also be first overall across the finish line.

Elina Ussher is expected not to have it all her own way either with Sophie Hart back on the start line as well as top adventure racing athlete, Sia Svendsen (Denmark).

Starting at Lake Waikaremoana in the Urewera National Park, competitors traverse approx 185 km over two days; covering stunning native bush tracks, back country gravel roads, farmland and rivers; by foot, mountain bike and kayak, finishing at the coastal town of Wairoa.

However the finish line is just the start line for the post-event festivities! Event director Chris Joblin explains,

“This year we will be giving the Saturday Lighthouse Festival on the riverbank a big push - we will have a live entertainment on the stage, a big screen and all sorts of involvement from the local community. Competitors can camp that night just across the river so it will have a very compact layout.

Planning for the Saturday night awards dinner function is also coming along well and is just walking distance away, for those competitors still ably walking!”

For those not walking to well the very popular massage team from last year are back again – headed by Hawaiian Nancy Kahalewai, long time Massage Director for Kona Ironman, with up to ten masseurs – massage is available both days and is free to all competitors.

The event can be completed as an individual or a 2,3 or 4 person team.

1 great event, 2 days of great racing, and FREE massage all weekend – still not convinced? Check out the action from last year’s event on www.sportzvibes.com
