Croneborg after final win at Ironman Malaysia

By Bahrain Endurance 13

Fredrik Croneborg takes on the hot and humid Ironman Malaysia this weekend. After  two silver finishes, the Swede seeks the crown in what is the Langkawi race’s final edition.

“It would be fantastic if I could take that final step after placing second the last two years,” he says. “I have been trying to do some express training the last two weeks to get ready. Unfortunately I had some problems with my knee so have not been able to run much but instead more focused on the swim and bike. I still have some hope for good placing and my eye is on a podium.”

Next week, Brent McMahon seeks to regain his Ironman Arizona crown. He placed second and just missed a sub-8 hour finish last year after losing time due to a flat tire, but the Canadian hopes to back up well after last month’s Kona race.

Meanwhile, Jodie Swallow and James Cunnama are set to put their offseason time at home to good use. They have been invited to ride in the Coronation Double Century at the end of the month as guests of Hot Chillee’s mixed squad. The amateur event features 250 teams of 12 racing together over a 204-kilometer course in the Western Cape, South Africa. Each team seeks to finish in 16-and-a-half hours, with cut-off checkpoints along the course.

Bahrain Endurance 13 team members are expected to converge on the Ironman 70.3 Bahrain next month, with nine already confirmed to compete. Croneborg, Swallow, and Cunnama will join Ben Hoffman, Sam Appleton, David Plese, Caroline Steffen, Daniela Ryf, and Terenzo Bozzone on the starting line.
