MTB Adventure Quest - Great Bike Event Gets Even Better

They’re calling it a Two Wheeled 90 Minute Amazing Race.  The MTB Adventure Quest, on the evening of 18th February, is a bike adventure for all ages and abilities, from families with youngsters, through to experienced bikers.  This year every competitor gets a food voucher for the Rotorua Night Market, plus the chance to win one of the many great spot prizes on offer.
 
The MTB Adventure Quest is a very popular event in the Rotorua Bike Festival, and has built a reputation for offering huge fun and excitement.  Now in its fourth year, it attracts bikers of all ages and abilities, who work together in teams trying to visit as many check points as they can in 90 minutes.  There are also fun mystery activities for bonus points and an optional dress up competition.

“The MTB Adventure Quest is a great family event that is good for all ages” said Rotorua local, Anna Goodman, whose family has done the event every year.  “We always really enjoy it and the kids are just buzzing afterwards.”
 
This year the event organisers, Orienteering Bay of Plenty (OBOP), have teamed up with the Rotorua Night Market and every competitor will get a free $5 food voucher for the Rotorua Night Market after the event finishes nearby.   Brigitte Nelson, from Rotorua Lakes Council who manages the market, is working with stallholders to come up with special food offerings for the night.

“The MTB Adventure Quest has been a really welcome part of the Festival programme since the first one in 2013 and is always a favourite,” said David Crowley from the Rotorua Bike Festival Charitable Trust.  "Ending at the Rotorua Night Market this year adds another dimension to our festival and I’m looking forward to entering it and enjoying the fun, again."
 
The event also has over $2,500 worth of fabulous spot prizes on offer.  Many local businesses have generously donated free passes to local tourist attractions, local café and bar vouchers, a helicopter ride, and even a $100 MTB Shuttle Pass.  Jeff Carter from South Star Shuttles said “the event sounds so cool I’ll have to enter it myself”.
 
“We’ve got a great course planned and lots of fun mystery activities.  But if I wasn’t organising the event I’d be doing it just for the spot prizes alone!” Pete Swanson, event setter, said.  “The event is fun, friendly and affordable for anyone who can ride a bike.”
