GODZone Announce Global Adventure Racing Team

By qtmagazine

A new international sporting partnership has been announced today between GODZone and Britain’s champion adventure racing team, Adidas Terrex, who will now be known as the GODZone Adventure Team.

The world’s largest expedition adventure race, GODZone, has welcomed the new development that will see the world class team race under the GODZone banner at a host of top level adventure races.

GODZone Media Manager Margo Berryman says the idea was spawned out of GODZone being represented at the US Primal Quest race earlier in the year.

“ Our race director Warren Bates recently led a New Zealand based team to victory at Primal Quest which provided great publicity and increased international awareness of the GODZone brand.

He has also been a core member of Adidas Terrex since 2002 along with the team captain Nick Gracie and together they have raced in no less than nine World Championship events. We felt the timing was right for GODZone to partner with this world ranked team who shares both our passion for adventure racing and a constant quest for excellence.”

The newly minted GODZone Adventure Team will have a squad of seven high profile adventure racers to call on over the next 12 months as they represent at major events around the world. Captain Nick Gracie says throughout its history, the team has pushed the limits in the pursuit of victory.

“We are always very proud to represent Great Britain and our aim is always to get the Union Jack as far up the leader board as possible.
This new partnership with GODZone will be of great benefit in assisting us to race in more exciting places around the globe while raising our profile and media activity.”

The first outing for the GODZone Adventure Team will be competing against the worlds best at next weeks Adventure Racing World Championships in Brazil
(11th – 21st November 2015).

Gracie says he and Warren Bates will race with New Zealand’s Sarah Fairmaid and Brazilian Gui Pahl, both of whom bring a wealth of adventure experience, navigational expertise and motivation to the team. He expects the event to be one of the toughest.

“We go to every race with the objective and desire of winning, sometimes knowing this will be very challenging to achieve, but there is no where better to test yourself than at the World Championships. Pantanal in Brazil is a very wild and wonderful place to race with some unique challenges and my gut feel at the moment is that this will be the hardest race we have ever done.”

The GODZone media group has selected several international photographers and videographers to follow the team’s progress and report back from the event.

GODZone Media Manager Margo Berryman says this is an extension of the successful media framework that operates around the annual GODZone event held in New Zealand.

“It lends support to our company’s vision of creating a well resourced multi media platform that delivers cutting edge adventure racing content to a global audience.

We are hugely committed to the development and promotion of adventure racing worldwide and we know that the GODZone Adventure Team will help to expedite our progress towards achieving this goal.”
