GT Bike Buller Festival presented by Fox to return to Mt Buller in 2016 for the biggest event yet

Mt Buller’s signature mountain bike event, the GT Bike Buller Festival presented by Fox, has just been announced for 2016 with a massive line-up of stages for all types of rider plus some exciting added extras that are set to thrill competitors and participants alike. Taking place over the Victorian Labour Day long weekend (12-14 March) on Mt Buller’s world-class trails, the GT Bike Buller Festival presented by Fox will see riders enjoy a jam-packed three days of mountain biking plus festival fun at the popular Picnic in the Park food, wine and music festival at Mirimbah Park.

The GT Bike Buller Festival presented by Fox is an ‘all-mountain’ event, held across Mt Buller Bike Park’s world-class cross-country, endurance and downhill trails, and suitable for riders of all abilities and disciplines. Run by event management company Rapid Ascent, the team behind the Giant Odyssey, Salomon Trail Running Series, Surf Coast Century and a number of other iconic adventure events, the 2016 GT Bike Buller Festival will feature a massive event schedule with a diverse range of mountain bike races, kids’ events and even a trail running component.

A massive drawcard for the GT Bike Buller Festival in 2016 will be the attendance of Mountain Bike Hall of Fame inductee, multiple world champion and pioneer of mountain biking, Hans Rey. Rey will travel to Australia from his home in California for the GT Bike Buller Festival, where he’ll be hosting a group ride for a very lucky bunch on Mt Buller’s Australian Alpine Epic Trail, the Southern Hemisphere’s first and only International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA)-accredited Epic trail.

General Manager of Rapid Ascent, Sam Maffett, said the GT Bike Buller Festival presented by Fox will be a massive weekend of riding for all. “We couldn’t be more excited for the 2016 event at Buller! This year is set to be absolutely massive, with the addition of some great downhill and gravity events to really appeal to the growing contingent of riders looking to challenge themself on Buller’s sensational tracks. We’ll have our popular short and long XC courses, and a great range of stages designed for all types of riders no matter what their interest or level.
