Run Down Your Rate, For You Or Your Mate, With ASB

By the pr shop

How would you feel to cross the finish line of the ASB Auckland Marathon knowing you have not only accomplished a significant achievement, but you’ve also secured a heavily reduced, exclusive interest rate on your home loan?

Recognising the financial challenges many Kiwis face with home ownership, ASB is offering ten lucky marathon runners the chance to ‘Run Down Your Rate’ at the ASB Auckland Marathon on November 1, 2015 and secure a significant reduction on a two-year, fixed home loan interest rate.

How does it work?

The Run Down Your Rate concept is as simple as converting your marathon race time to a home loan rate.  Take last year’s winner Stephen Lett, who ran the ASB Auckland Marathon in just 2 hours 27 minutes, as an example.  If Stephen ran the marathon in same time this year as a Run Down Your Rate runner, he would reduce his interest rate to just 2.27% - less than half of ASB’s current fixed home loan rate at 4.85%.

Marathon participants are being invited to apply online at asb.co.nz/rundownyourrate to be eligible to become one of the 10 lucky marathon participants taking part in ASB’s Run Down Your Rate initiative.

And if they are already locked into a home loan, or do not require a mortgage, Run Down Your Rate runners will have the ability to gift their run time to a friend and give them a helping hand towards an interest rate most can only dream about.

ASB executive general manager marketing and communications Roger Beaumont says ASB is delighted to be introducing this opportunity to runners at this year’s ASB Auckland Marathon.

“Running a marathon is a huge achievement in itself. But we are pleased to be offering runners the potential for a super-low interest rate that beats anything else on the market.  The faster they run the marathon, the lower the interest rate on their home loan – it’s that simple,” Mr Beaumont says.

Register online between September 14 – October 5 to have the chance to Run Down Your Rate, either for yourself or a friend.  The 10 lucky participants will be announced on October 9, 2015.
