Renata Bucher named European ambassador for TreX

By In2Adventure

In2Adventure announces Switzerland ‘Super Woman’ Renata Bucher as official European TreX race ambassador for 2015/16…

Switzerland’s Renata Bucher has stormed back with stellar second half of the season after capturing second place in England at the Xterra European Championships just ahead of Jacqui Slack (GBR). The impressive result is just one of many that solidified her selection as the European ambassador for the 2015/16 TreX race calendar.

Bucher joins Slack and Ben Allen (AUS), who were announced last month as the official TreX Series international ambassadors, and she already looks forward to working with In2Adventure in the lead-up to the 2016 ITU Cross Triathlon Worlds to be held at Lake Crackenback, New South Wales – the first time the event will be held in the Southern Hemisphere.

"I am looking forward to working with In2Adventure leading up to the worlds,” said Bucher. “Over the last few years I have seen the hard work and dedication that organisers Simon and Robyn Lazenby have invested into improving the TreX series and I can say that they are excelling in every way to providing athletes with a great off road triathlon experience.
"Everything is in place, time to get the ball rolling to put on a world class event in 2016.”

The 38-year-old Bucher, who resides half the year in Victoria, will also serve as a coach for EnduranceTeam OffRoad, who were announced as an official training provider in the recently launched ‘Pathway Partners’ programme, which has been specifically designed to assist Australian age-group athletes achieve their goal of racing in national colours.

“Off-road triathlon is growing very fast here in Europe, and I can see the huge potential in Australia for our sport,” explained Bucher. “Having the worlds in Australia is the perfect opportunity to invite the athletes from all over the world to experience Australia.

“I'm a big fan of the TreX series and the race at Lake Crackenback,” she concluded. “I had the opportunity to experience the course for the first time earlier this year at the Oceania championships, and I am very excited to come back and assist the athletes to prepare for the 2016 world champs.”

In2Adventure is proud to have the 12-year veteran and winner of 33 Xterra races across 14 countries on board as an ambassador.

“We are so excited to announce this partnership with one of the sports true international greats,” said TreX event director Robyn Lazenby. “Renata raced at our very first ever TreX event in Australia almost 10 years ago, and has been a part of the TreX family as we have continued to develop the sport within Australia, to the point where we will be hosting the ITU World Championships in 2016.

“We absolutely love the world champs course in the Snowy Mountains and we want to welcome and share this experience with as many international athletes as possible.

“To have a representative like Renata sharing the TreX story and sharing her experience of the world champs course with athletes internationally, and encouraging them to be a part of a world champs Down Under is fabulous for the event.”

Next year’s event marks the first time in the race’s five-year history that the world championships have been hosted outside the northern hemisphere, with previous locations including Spain, US, Holland and Germany.

In2Adventure offers three TreX qualifying races prior to the worlds, with events in Victoria (28-29 November), New South Wales (28-29 February) and Queensland (16-17 April).
