Cycling New Zealand announces principal partnership with APL

By Sports Media NZ

The continuing momentum that Cycling New Zealand is building has been given a major boost with the announcement of a multi-year principal partner association with APL.

“We’re absolutely delighted to be teaming up with APL, who have been contributing to our growing success already, having been involved in the construction of our world-class Home of Cycling, Avantidrome,” said Cycling New Zealand CEO, Andrew Matheson.

“They’re a home-grown, market leading, innovator and hugely successful at their craft, and that aligns perfectly with our ethos and quest for New Zealand to be the world’s best cycling nation.”

APL CEO, Craig Vincent said that exciting times lay ahead for APL as they embrace the opportunity that cycling offers in New Zealand, from a recreational level right through to elite Olympic athletes.
“Very few other activities or sports provide the benefits of cycling, that more than one million Kiwis enjoy each year,” said Mr Vincent.

“These benefits are very much aligned with APL’s philosophy of health and wellbeing for all New Zealanders, so becoming the principal partner of Cycling New Zealand was a very easy decision.”
The naming rights partnership will see parent company APL and some of its more well-known subsidiary brands, rolling out across the range of Cycling New Zealand high performance squads and elite national events.

“While the high performance teams are our shop window, there’s plenty going on across the many aspects that our business is involved in, and that’s the same for APL,” added Mr Matheson.

“We’re looking forward to working together across all the layers of our respective organisations to help each other grow and cement our world-leading positions.”

With respect to the cycling codes, the elite road and track squads will fly under the Vantage Windows & Doors banner, the elite BMX squad will align with First Windows & Doors, the elite mountain bike team will adopt the Altherm Window Systems brand, while the umbrellas for both organisations, APL and Cycling New Zealand, will team up together.

The partnership between Cycling New Zealand and APL is for an initial period of five years through until the end of 2020.
