Challenge Family Europe Announces End-Of-Season Bonus for Pro Athletes

By Challenge Family

Professional athletes racing CHALLENGEFAMILY races in Europe can earn an end-of-season windfall with today’s announcement of a new prize money bonus structure for the 2016 season.

This initiative provides professional athletes with the opportunity to race for a share €140,000 end-of-season bonus. The bonus will pay five deep for both men and women to those athletes who have accumulated the most points racing at CHALLENGEFAMILY events throughout Europe. The top ranked male and female will each take home €25k, second will earn €17k, third will win €13k, fourth €10k and fifth €5k.

“CHALLENGEFAMILY’s commitment to the ambassadors of our sport is unquestionable and as part of this commitment, we wanted to reward those pro athletes who support CHALLENGEFAMILY throughout the European season,” said CHALLENGEFAMILY CEO, Zibi Szlufcik. “All our races are committed to developing the careers of up and coming pros, as well as forming strong partnerships with those established in the sport, creating professional fields that inspire age groupers as well as attract media coverage for triathlon.”

Athletes will continue to earn prize money at each CHALLENGEFAMILY Europe race. Full distance European races will now pay eight deep with a total prize purse of €36k while half distances races will pay five deep with a prize purse of €18k.

Lending her voice to the prize money changes, CHALLENGEFAMILY pro athlete liaison, Belinda Granger was full of praise for the new structure.

“I am a big believer in fair races and fair prize money that works for the event and the athlete. This will provide huge incentive for pros who are racing in Europe but will absolutely entice others to these events to be in contention for a slice of the bonus pool,” she said.
