Inaugural 'Halberg Tri Challenge' indoor charity sports race launched

By Halberg Disability Sport Foundation

The Halberg Disability Sport Foundation has today launched the inaugural Halberg Tri Challenge an indoor multi-sports race taking place on Friday 26 June in Auckland to raise funds for the charity which helps physically disabled New Zealanders through sport.

Vector Arena will be transformed into the ‘Halberg Tri Challenge Stadium’ for the day with treadmills, stationary bikes and rowing machines lining the main bowl. Teams of three can sign up to enter the race at www.halbergchallenge.co.nz.  Each team member will either cycle, row or run as far as they can for 20 minutes straight.

Every team will be tracked to get a total distance completed across all three disciplines and the team that covers the greatest distance will be named the winner of the inaugural Halberg Tri Challenge.

“I’ve seen first-hand the work of the Halberg Disability Sport Foundation and the difference it makes on the lives of young Kiwis, so I was keen to get involved. Sebastian, Grant and I have set a target of raising $15,000 for Halberg and I hope more people get involved by participating or donating,” said Sullivan at a team training session.

Other celebrity participants confirmed for the Halberg Tri Challenge include; Silver Fern captain Laura Langman, the Crowd Goes Wild presenters Andrew Mulligan and James McOnie, former Silver Fern Anna Stanley, Sky Sport presenter Melodie Robinson, Ben Boyce from Jono and Ben and Ironman legend Cameron Brown.

Teams are encouraged to raise funds for their Halberg TriChallenge efforts with all donations going to the Halberg Disability Sport Foundation, the charity set up by Olympian Sir Murray Halberg (ONZ), which aims to enhance the lives of physically disabled New Zealanders by enabling them to participate in sport and recreation.
