POC SUPPORTS KIDS MOUNTAIN BIKING INITIATIVE

Leading cycle gear brand POC has teamed up with youth mountain biking not-for-profit WORD to become its official safety partner.

WORD director Ash Burgess says the partnership is a great fit for the Wellington region wide initiative.

“Safety is a big priority when you’re taking 7-17 year olds mountain-biking and we’re stoked to have the backing of world class safety gear provider POC to keep our kids safe.”

WORD families will have the opportunity to attend mountain biking safety workshops at POC Wellington retailers IRIDE and Burkes Cycles – and also receive discounts in-store on POC gear. WORD instructors are also being kitted out in POC helmets.

POC distributor Matt Whitaker of Wide Open says supporting WORD fits with the brands ethos of offering gear that saves lives and reduces injuries.

“These kids are learning skills that will see them go on to be passionate life long mountain bikers and it’s crucial that they’re learning about the importance of safety – and the role helmets and other gear plays in this – from the very beginning.”

“We’re also delighted to be part of something that is getting kids out on New Zealand’s tracks and trails and having fun.”

WORD runs term time programmes and holiday camps at tracks and trails around the Wellington region.
