World Champion sets NZ Record at The Big Shot

By International Track Meet and The Big Shot

A hardy and enthusiastic crowd braved the Christchurch southerly to come out and support the athletes in The Big Shot today, and were rewarded with a masterly display from the World Indoor Champion, Ryan Whiting of the USA.

Whiting broke Tom Walsh’s New Zealand Allcomers Record (the furthest thrown by any athlete on NZ soil) not once but twice, to win the competition with an official distance of 21.03m. Walsh was second with a best on the day of 19.99m, followed by Australian Damian Birkinhead with 19.55m.

Official results and a full report will be available on the website thebigshot.co.nz and on the Facebook page of the International Track Meet.
