Silver medal for Dawkins in keirin final

By Cycling New Zealand

New Zealand sprinter Eddie Dawkins has won the silver medal in the final of the men’s keirin on the second day of the UCI Track World Championships in Paris.

Dawkins forced his way through from the inside on the final bend but could not catch Frenchman Francois Pervis, who defended the world title he won in Cali last year.

Fellow Kiwi Sam Webster was caught at the back and blocked in his wide run to get to the front and finished sixth.

Earlier Dawkins won his semifinal in impressive fashion while Webster fought from the back to finish third comfortably to make the final.
