MEPTOUR - Middle East Peace Tour

By MEPTOUR GmbH

09-15 March 2018
Jordan - Israel - Palestinian Territories

After four years of dreaming, negotiating and preparing, the first Middle East Peace Tour (MEPT) will take place from March 9th to March 15th 2018.

MEPT is the first cross-border sporting event for peace in the world. The tour is sanctioned by the UCI (International Cycling Union) as a  ”Cycling for All" category.  Cyclists from all around the world are permitted to participate – from amateur and hobby cyclists to professionals – all welcome to support the idea of peace in sport.

The event starts on the March 9th in Amman with a circuit race in the City Centre and finishes in Jerusalem March 15th. The seven stages are very versatile: some are challenging climbing stages, but there will also be days dominated by descents, and one mostly flat stage completes the route plan.

The terrain is suitable for most riders and all stages pass through spectacular scenery and unique sites that are so characteristic of this region:

The seven day stage race will start in Jordan with stage finishes in the Jordanian capital, Amman: the historical city of Petra, and Aqaba on the Red Sea. After a stage in Aqaba, the race heads to Israel with finishing stages in the popular resort Eilat, the unique Mitzpe Ramon Crater. In the ultimate stage, the riders will travel through the West Bank from Neve Zohar on the Dead Sea to Jericho the finish of the first half-stage. The second half-stage of the day leaves Jericho and finishes in Jerusalem.

The date for the race is also ideal for those cyclists who want to support peace and at the same time get fit for the summer season. If you are coming from the Southern Hemisphere, race one more big event before the days start getting cooler again! The event is organised by the MEPTOUR GmbH in Austria, a non-profit company funded by entry fees from participants, sponsors and donations. Any and all profits will be designated for philanthropic projects and equally divided up amongst the participating countries.

Registration opened July 15th and will close December 15th 2017.
The maximum number of participants is 500 riders.

The different event categories are:
·  Single participation
·  Team with two riders
·  Company team with 5 riders
·  Electro – bike
