2017 Trails In Motion Mountain Bike Film Festival underway

By Go Trail Media

The New Year ushers in an exciting time for South Africa-based Go Trail Media, with its launch of the inaugural Trails In Motion Mountain Bike Film Festival world tour. After the success of Trails In Motion’s trail running film tour, now in its 5th year and screened in almost 30 countries, the progression to a mountain bike-focused world tour was a natural one.

Festival director, James Hallett, saw the need to inspire the international mountain biking community through film and global sponsors Bike Hub, South Africa's leading online cycling destination, as well as innovative lighting and headlamp manufacture Ledlenser, jumped at the opportunity to come on board as festival partners.

Since the announcement of the tour, the mountain biking community has responded enthusiastically, with over 13 screenings scheduled for 2017 already! And who could blame them with an awe-inspiring line-up of films on offer for hosts to screen – 11 of the finest to be exact – produced by the likes of some of the world’s top filmmakers.

From Flashes of the Altai, where childhood friends set out for a mountain biking and pack rafting adventure in far west Mongolia, to the vintage ‘80s compilation Freewheelin’ – believed to be one of the first mountain biking films ever made – there really is something for everyone.

“The films that make up our official selection have been chosen because of their diversity and rich story line,” says Hallett. “We believe that all riders revere their own individual sense of adventure when it comes to venturing outdoors and riding bikes and the 2017 lineup of films truly encompasses this spirit of discovery and self-expression."
