Team Championship Race Leaders to be challenged in tough Arohena Loop

By Dynamo Events

Te Awamutu Cycling Club’s Frank Sutton will surely be tested during Sundays fourth round of the Dynamo Events Team Championship. 2nd place Michael Torckler of Blindz Direct is only 2 points behind him in the Race Lead and with three races remaining in the series they both have everything to ride for.

Equally, with Cycling NZ’s Jaime Nielsen rested from this round, the race organisers anticipate fireworks from the Women’s race also. 2nd placed Grace Anderson of Bikelab will be out to snatch the Race Lead, however, with only 5 points separating the 2nd, 3rd and 4th places in the overall standings, she’ll need to keep an eye out for another solo attack by the Race 3 winner, 3rd place Natalie Kerwin of Ramblers Cycling Club.

With the start and finish at Leamington School on the outskirts of Cambridge, the Arohena Loop sends the riders on an undulating course past Lake Karapiro and on towards Lake Arapuni and back. The word from the riders who have ridden the course is that it will be a race of attrition, which will surely keep the Leaders on their toes and certainly result in some big splits in every race.

With only a small number of points separating the placings in all of the five different race categories, expect some exciting racing this Sunday. Head over to Dynamoevents.co.nz to get a full list of the teams entered, a detailed course route and all of the start times.

The series has been made possible thanks to the sponsorship from the South Waikato District Council, local Subway stores and good support from the First Sovereign Trust.
