Revvies Aids Pip Taylor's Return To Racing

By Holla Communications

Revvies Energy Strips proudly stands behind Australian athlete – and mother, wife, author and expert nutritionist – Pip Taylor in her return to the professional triathlon ranks. Taylor, a former Junior Elite, ITU World Cup podium regular and champion of such esteemed races as Vineman 70.3, Memphis in May and the Australian and Oceania Long Course Championships, joined the company’s product development board and became a Revvies brand ambassador in late 2014 after trialing the product in training. Revvies has since become a fixture in her nutrition regimen.

Taylor’s top ten performance at the recent Ironman 70.3 Western Sydney marked her first foray back to racing after having two children, authoring and publishing her first book, The Athlete’s Fix (www.theathletesfix.net), and completing a master’s degree in nutrition. Taylor’s ninth place finish was the result of a pack-leading swim and a powerful bike, and gave her an initial boost of confidence plus a gauge from which to work toward future improvement.

“It was fantastic to be back out there and back in the mix,” said Taylor afterward. “Especially with the caliber of women who lined up for the race. It also gave me an honest look at what I need to focus on going forward. Prior to Sydney I’d been running only 8k weekly, so it’s no surprise the half marathon was a struggle! I only gave birth five months ago, so I’ve been allowing my joints and ligaments time to heal, minus the jarring that running can inflict.”

Like a growing number of female professional athletes, Taylor has to juggle the demands of family, training and business. Taylor says that the quick and convenient caffeine delivered by Revvies Energy Strips helps her navigate an oftentimes hectic schedule and ensures that every training session is quality time spent.

“As an athlete and mum, and with numerous professional commitments beyond sport, I don’t have any time to spare,” says Taylor. “And as a sports nutritionist, I analyze everything that goes into my body. I look to Revvies for an ideal, quick and easy, clean energy boost to ensure that I get the most out of myself each and every session.”

“I’ve studied at length the impact of caffeine on athletic performance,” continues Taylor. “Caffeine has been shown to improve alertness, awareness and mood – all of which positively influence sports performance. Caffeine can also lower perceived pain during training and racing and can even stimulate the mind/body connection to increase muscle contractile force. Ultimately, caffeine is a tool that allows athletes to exercise harder for longer and feel less pain doing so.”

Taylor goes on to explain how Revvies’ specific efficacy lies not only in the caffeine itself, but also in the delivery method.

“Due to absorption of the dissolvable mouth strips orally as opposed to via the GI tract, uptake and effect is much quicker,” says Taylor. “Research suggests that lower levels of caffeine delivered thusly can achieve the same boosts as a larger dose delivered through more traditional forms. And smaller, more frequent servings obviously compute to more consistent, sustained energy, rather than dramatic peaks and subsequent lows. Plus, with Revvies you’re getting solely the caffeine and none of the added sugar or calories packed into energy food or drinks. With Revvies, athletes can precisely adjust caffeine intake, independent of nutrition used for fueling and hydrating.”

Revvies is indeed quick and convenient – just pop a pocket-sized strip on your tongue and it dissolves within seconds, minus any water – making it an ideal choice for athletes seeking a swift boost on the go. Also of important note to athletes is the fact that Revvies is certified by the Informed-Sport quality assurance program (only the second Australian company and the first in New Zealand to achieve this status), which tests every batch for WADA-banned substances prior to distribution.

Not only do the benefits of Revvies apply to athletes, however. The portable mouth strips can help anyone juggling a full schedule be more productive by providing that sought-after caffeine oomph without overdoing it and leaving you wired, jittery and distracted. Taylor’s endorsement of Revvies both on and off the athletic field illustrates the brand’s mission to help anyone – athletes, students, parents and business people alike – enjoy greater productivity with greater ease.

Revvies co-founder Jacqui Nolan-Neylan, also a mother balancing career with raising a newborn, expressed her excitement and admiration at having Taylor on board.“Revvies is extremely proud to work with Pip, and not only because of her sporting prowess and her nutritional knowledge. Unlike Pip, most people will never finish an Ironman 70.3. Even fewer will earn a top 10 finish in the professional division. To achieve this five months after giving birth is truly inspirational. And with Pip’s drive and determination we know this is only the start of what she stands to accomplish.”
