BDO announced as major sponsor of 2013 Wellington to Auckland Cycle Challenge By Media Unlimited Dynamo Events today announced international accountancy network BDO as naming sponsor of the Wellington to Auckland Cycle Challenge. The world’s fifth largest full-service audit, tax and advisory firm, has a strong presence in New Zealand with a network of 12 independently owned accounting practices. BDO has already worked closely with Dynamo Events (www.dynamoevents.co.nz), the organisers of the Wellington to Auckland Cycle Challenge, as an established sponsor of the BDO Tour of Northland. Event Director Stephen Cox, says Dynamo Events is very excited to have BDO as the major sponsor for the 2013 race. “BDO shares our love of cycling and we’re thrilled to be able to work with them on this signature event.” David O’Connor, Director, BDO New Zealand says “Cycling continues to grow in popularity because it is a sport that is accessible to everyone, encourages good health and strong camaraderie. As a firm BDO has embraced the benefits of cycling, as have many of our clients who we will encourage to be involved in this event. “As cyclists ourselves, we want to ensure events of this calibre are available for riders of all levels, which is why cycling is an important part of our sponsorship programme.” Cox says. “The Cycle Challenge is shaping up to be one of our best yet so to have the support of a nationwide firm, such as BDO, will really help us to reach all New Zealanders and encourage them to see the country from the seat of a bike.” O’Connor, reiterates Cox’s enthusiasm of the new partnership. “We are excited to extend our cycling sponsorship to include the BDO Wellington to Auckland Cycle Challenge. After four year’s sponsoring and participating in the BDO Tour of Northland we appreciate the commitment required to make these events successful. We’re looking forward to participating in this challenging and rewarding event and have already started training for the cycle team challenge!” Entry is now open for the BDO Wellington to Auckland Cycle Challenge which will take place over seven days in February 2013 (Sunday 10th – Saturday 16th February). Starting from Lower Hutt, Kiwi riders will cycle side-by-side with international riders in a 13-stage event covering 100kms per day and finish in Pukekohe with a sense of personal accomplishment and a truly unique experience. The Cycle Challenge will also include a corporate team challenge for the first time in its five year history. Teams of six (three riders must compete each leg) will vie amongst themselves and against other competitors for the fastest time across the finish line of each stage. “We’ve had a great response from all levels of riders including competitive masters, weekend warriors and cycling tourists, in the past, proving the Cycle Challenge is suitable to all skill level,” says Cox. “Now we want to extend the challenge and see a number of corporate teams from around New Zealand participate in this cycling classic. And BDO will be leading the way!” The BDO Wellington to Auckland Cycle Challenge will be held from Sunday 10th – Saturday 16th February, 2013 For more information or to register, visit www.dynamoevents.co.nz
