Kiwi adventurer and Air New Zealand pilot Mike Allsop is set to undertake an incredible mission to run seven marathons, in seven continents, in just seven days.

He aims to be the first New Zealander to complete the challenge, starting on 15 July 2012, with his mission taking him to points around the globe, including, The Falkland Islands, Santiago, Los Angeles, London, Casablanca and Hong Kong, concluding his marathon effort in New Zealand seven days later on 22 July.

Mike, an Air New Zealand Boeing 737 captain, achieved his first extreme milestone in 2007 when he climbed Mt Everest and will now attempt to match celebrated British explorer Sir Ranulph Fienne’s incredible 777 feat, with funds raised from his efforts going to New Zealand children’s charity KidsCan.

As part of his training for the 777 project, last month Mike completed one of the world’s highest altitude marathons, running 42km from the top of the mountain Kala Patthar (18,519 ft), via the Cho La pass, to the village of Pangboche in the Khumbu Valley region of Nepal.
